I meant to post yesterday about my final class at Art & Soul. OMG - I definitely saved the best for last. The instructor, Shelly Massey, is awesome. Her style is bright & whimsical.
Our project was to determine a subject then make key pieces from cardboard and plastercloth. Messy to say the least but really fun to create with. Will be applying some plastercloth to some products for upcoming shows.
Wish I had taken pictures of the other creations. Each were quite different from the others. Here's mine:
It's a shame you can't see how 3 dimensional it is. I wanted the license plate to be as visible as possible so the bottom heart is raised up about 1/2" so you can look under it. The 2nd and 3rd hearts are raised about 1/4" from the one below. Of course there's one of my clay angels watching over the garden (behind the fence) and a faucet flower adds a bit of whimsy.
That's it for today. Need to return to cleaning my studio because I made quite a mess deciding which supplies to take with me. Have to clean that up plus put away what I didn't use :-( Takes a long time to clean it because I'm constantly picking things up and start doing the "ooooh - I could make ....." :-)
1 month until Flint Street at VSA Arts. I'm reviving my wood garden girls, wood/aluminum/mixed media flowers & welcome signs plus much more. Will post pictures as new creations are finished.

Art & Soul Retreat Las Vegas
Attending an art retreat has been on my bucket list for a very long time. Today my dream started to be fufilled with Day 1 of Art & Soul Retreat in Las Vegas. Today's class was Be Still My Heart with Lisa Kaus.
We started at 10 AM and ended at 5:30. Most of us skipped lunch. It was an exciting and informative lesson with beeswax. Will be fun to incorporate this in to new pieces when I get home. Here's my creation:
